Made in 15 carat gold, the colour of the gold has that lovely warm patina that adds to the look of this brooch, and measuring 32.2mm across by 27.9mm, this is the perfect size that will always look so elegant day or night and get the admiration that it truly deserves.
The pheasant is highlighted with a combination of rubies in the tail as well as the eye, and green tsavorite garnets in the head and complimented by a body of seed pearls that then go around the delightful border.
This is such a wonderful antique brooch, by a fantastic and sought early Australian jeweller, that all come together to make this brooch so charming from every point.

Duggin Shappere and Co were one of Australia's most prolific and famous jewellery firms starting in Melbourne in 1896.Founded by H Duggin and P Shappere became well known for Australian themed jewellery as well as other high end pieces set with diamonds and opals among other precious gemstones. The Great Depression took a toll on this prestigious Australian company, and they closed their doors in 1929, however in their brief time, they produced highly collectable jewellery that is so sought after today. Their jewellery was marked with an anchor symbol.
