Art Deco Egyptian revival haematite and diamond ring

The discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb by Howard Carter in Egypt in 1922 came at a perfect time as the "new" Art Deco period was blossoming, and the discoveries made in Egypt influenced the styles and designs of the time, resulting in what is referred to as "Egyptian revival jewellery". And this styling can be seen here in this very beautiful Art Deco haematite and diamond ring hand made in the 1930's.

Beautifully made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, more often than not onyx is used for the dark colour when set into jewellery of this era, however in this ring haematite is used. This wonderful material has a metallic grey-black colour that reflects the light so well and will certainly make sure that it gets noticed from across the room.

In the centre sits a 0.10 carat brilliant cut diamond that sparkles perfectly and on each side are five single cut diamonds that total 0.10 carats. However it is not just these diamonds on the side that will make you look on the side of the ring, rather it is that wonderful Egyptian revival design that showcases the influence that the discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb had on jewellery.

Measuring 17.2mm all the way across from where the diamonds start on one side over to the other by 10.5mm, this is one ring that will not only always be admired and commented on, but will be admired each and every time that it is worn.
