Art Deco jewellery is one of glamour, elegance and style and here is a truly spectacular Art Deco ruby and diamond brooch that is magnificent in its design as well as being set with both rubies and diamonds.
Hand made entirely in platinum, this Art Deco brooch is characteristic of the styles of jewellery being produced in the 1920's with its superb angular shape and flowing design in the centre.
Platinum is such a superb precious metal to work with and was very popular in during the Art Deco era as it retains its pure white colour better than any other metal including white gold and has the ability to be worked into a fine wire and still retain its strength.
With the brooch set with 9 very fine quality Burmese rubies, the colour of these rubies was often referred to as "pigeon blood" rubies due the fine red colour of them and here they look absolutely incredible.
These rubies total 2 carats in weight and are a spectacular colour that is so strong and vibrant.
Highlighting both the brooch and the rubies are of course all of the diamonds which adds a very elegant amount of sparkle and pizazz to an already decadent Art Deco brooch.
In total there are 60 diamonds with the larger 12 diamonds being the early European cut diamonds and the smaller the delightful rose cut diamonds.
These diamonds total 0.70 carats in weight and add the right amount of sparkle to this brooch that makes it all the more elegant.
From left to right this brooch measures 39.4mm across by 15.1mm high making it the perfect Art Deco brooch to stand out day or night.
Art Deco jewellery from the 1920's to the 1940's is so mesmerising and captivating and this Art Deco ruby and diamond platinum brooch is certainly no exception to this.
