The Art Nouveau era produced such a style of jewellery, furniture and architecture and here is a truly wonderful Art Nouveau lorgnette made in silver.
Dating from the late 1800's, the lorgnette measures 13cm in length by 3.2cm at its widest part and has a delightful discreet lever to be pushed to open the spring loaded lenses that fold over each other when inside the lorgnette.
The handle of this piece is what makes it so wonderful and is so typical of the Art Nouveau era.
