Hamilton pocket watch calibre 992
Here is a fantastic Hamilton pocket watch dating from 1916 with a truly
superb and highly accurate and reliable movement that is just stunning
to look at and admire.
This is a railway grade pocket watch meaning that it had to be made to strict guidelines.
Some of the requirements for a railway grade pocket watch is that they must be made in an open face case (not a hunter case with a lid) have a white dial with black Arabic (numbers) numerals, be a screw back and front case, be lever set and have a movement with at least 17 jewels (this one has 21!) adjusted to at least 5 positions.
This Hamilton pocket watch has the most impressive and beautiful movement that of course runs perfectly.
Not only has it a stunning high jewelled movement, is also has a gold centre wheel and a very high grade micro-regulator- true signs of a high grade watch.
Lever set means that the top must be unscrewed and the small lever near the 1 o'clock pulled out, the crown turned to set the hands then pushed back in.
This was used for railway grade pocket watches to prevent the crown being inadvertently pulled out and the time changed by mistake.
Fitted in a rolled gold case that measures an impressive 50mm across, this wonderful Hamilton pocket watch is destined to be a great talking point and would make a superb gift.
