Antique silver, rose and green gold brooch made in 1890
This antique sterling silver, rose and green gold brooch was made in 1890 and is so charming and full of character. Measuring 43.7mm across by 14.9mm, it is the perfect size to wear all the time as well as for any occasion. Gold can be alloyed with other precious metals resulting in different colours being produced. Rose gold is made by primarily adding copper to the gold when being alloyed resulting in the lovely warm tone to it, and today green gold is made by adding silver to the gold, however the green colour is more a soft green-yellow colour. Years ago cadmium was added resulting in a stronger colour, and while never a strong green such as yellow or white gold, the tone of green in antique pieces is more pronounced and is used perfectly here to highlight the leaves. With the flower sections being in rose gold as well as being used at each end, this is such a beautiful antique brooch from the late Victorian era. Stock# ES8327 Hallmarked: Birmingham 1890 $395

Here is a spectacular antique Georgian era enamel brooch set with diamonds and pearls that dates from the early 1800's and looks as amazing today as when it was made over 200 years ago. It is astonishing to think that we can not only admire, but also wear a piece of jewellery of this age as well as it still being in wonderful condition, is all a testament to the jewellers of this era.
