The IWC Yacht Club was launched in the late 1960's and became an instant success thanks to its large tonneau shaped case and its superb movement inside. The movement is the highly regarded IWC calibre 8541B which is considered one of the best movements ever produced not only by IWC but any watchmaking company in the world. This IWCÂ movement was designed by Albert Pellaton who was the technical director of IWC, and this automatic movement has an ingenious system that included the ability for the automatic rotor to wind the watch regardless of which direction the rotor was turning. Fitted with a micro-regulator to guarantee accuracy and this among various other features make this one of the most accurate and well regarded watch movements in any watch back then and even today more than 40 years later. Miniature carriage clocks are also known as boudoir clocks and when you consider that this clock was made in the 1920â€™s, it takes you back to this wonderful hedonistic era. This carriage clock measures just 4.7cm tall plus the handle. It also measures 3.5cm wide by 1.6cm deep and it is this wonderful small size that adds so much charm and character to it. And then there is the wonderful case that is enamelled in a technique called guillochĂ© enamel. This is one of the most popular of all the enamel techniques and it is so easy to see why. Dating from the 1950's, this vintage Hamilton diamond cocktail watch is equally as much a watch as it is a stunning diamond bracelet and no matter day or night, there is no doubt that it will always be admired. Made by Hamilton watches, the case is made in platinum and set with seven round brilliant cut diamonds on each side and a further round brilliant cut diamond on each corner. These diamonds weigh 0.38 carats and really set the tone for the entire style of the watch. And then at the top and bottom are those lovely vibrant rectangle cut diamonds with a total of forty four set into the most elegant swirl design. The way they seem to curve along gives it such a sensual design, and these diamonds total 1.60 carats. The diamonds are also lovely and clean being F in colour and VS in clarity. The case measures 14.2mm across plus the crown and is fitted on a 14ct white gold bracelet with a safety chain for added security. there is nothing quite like the feel and heft of a genuine pocket watch in the palm of your hand, and here is a lovely antique sterling silver pocket watch retailed by Angus & Coote. Angus & Coote was founded in Sydney in 1895 and is still around today throughout Australia so not only is it nice to own a lovely gents pocket watch in fantastic condition, but one with Australian history behind it. Made in 1922, the solid sterling silver case measures 52.5mm across by 71mm to the top of the bow and features the traditional engine turned style case. The engraving on the case is still so nice and sharp showing that this wasn't used excessively and still feels wonderful to the touch. With the lovely heft coming from the solid sterling silver case and the movement inside, in recent years we have found genuine antique pocket watches more and more popular, especially when in good condition. The front cover opens easily and stops at 90 degrees to the dial again showing how little wear this pocket watch has had, as often they are found with the front cover opening too far back. The white enamel dial is all original and in great condition and displays the traditional black Roman numerals with the sub-seconds at the bottom. So easy to read, it is also very easy to wind and set which is all done via the crown at the top.
