Here is a very lovely antique 15ct gold Albert chain by Australian maker Lawrence that is so rare to find in full length as well as in 15ct gold. These Albert chains or fob watch chains as they are also know as, were originally designed for a gentleman to hold a pocket watch at one end and the key or a fob at the other end, with the tee bar connected to the waistcoat. Years later when men stopped using pocket watches and started to wear wrist watches, women years later started to wear these around their neck where they are often seen today. Quite often Albert chains are seen as half Alberts that only have one half of the chain, or they are double but simply too short to wear around the neck, but this one measures 41.5cm length allowing it to sit perfectly around the neck. The design of the links are just incredible and so beautiful and solid and the colour of the gold is just sensational. Not only is this one a complete full length with no additions added to it, but being made and hallmarked by an early Australian maker makes it even more wonderful. Joseph Lawrence started business in Melbourne in 1894, and in recent years early Australian jewellery has become so highly sought after. This is such a wonderful and rare genuine antique Albert chain that is full length and in the very hard to find 15ct gold - it is a real treasure to wear.
