Antique onyx, pearl and diamond mourning locket made in the 1870’s
Poignant and at the same time so beautiful, this antique onyx, pearl and diamond mourning locket made in the 1870's has such an impressive look and style to it that will no doubt always be admired every time that it is worn.
Made in the Victorian period, the locket itself measures 42mm or 57mm from the bottom to the very top of the bail, by 32.3mm wide and is the perfect size to make such an elegant statement when worn around the neck.
The bold black onyx has a wonderful polish to it and in the centre is that fabulous star design set with pearls and diamonds. Not content just to simply set diamonds in, the outer section is set with sixteen rose cut diamonds and in the centre is a European cut diamond. These diamonds come together to total 0.24 carats and are highlighted with the four natural pearls that compliment not only the diamonds, but the black onyx as a wonderful contrast in colour.
Turning the piece over will reveal a section to place a photo that once in, will make this so much more personal and special to the wearer.
With even the top bail for the chain complete with elegant enamel lines to finish the piece off, this antique mourning locket is just spectacular in its simple yet elegant design.
