Exquisite antique pietra dura brooch made in the 1870’s
Pietra dura originated during Roman times and is the term given for the inlay technique of using cut and fitted, highly-polished coloured stones to create images in solid walls and floors, furniture as well as jewellery, resulting in some truly spectacular pieces such as this antique pietra dura brooch that has the most magnificent design in the centre that is complimented by a gorgeous mount.
Dating from the 1870's, the work in the centre is nothing short of spectacular and will be the perfect accessory to that special outfit. The smooth and tactile feel to it is also a credit to the workmanship that is even more amazing when you consider that it was all done by hand 150 years ago.
Then there is the mount that was made in 15 carat gold that is just as beautiful and compliments the pietra dura perfectly. Day or night, there is little doubt that this will always be admired for its beauty and elegance.
From near or far, this is an exquisite brooch and one that will be perfect to wear for any occasion.

Antique double drop pair of pietra dura earrings in rose gold
Pietra dura goes back as far as the Roman times and is the term given for the inlay technique of using cut and fitted, highly-polished colored stones to create images in solid walls and floors, furniture as well as jewellery as can be seen here in these lovely antique double drop pair of pietra dura earrings in 9 carat rose gold.
These earrings date from the 1880's and are quite unique to be found with two pieces rather than just one. Measuring 41.3mm or 47.8mm to the very top of the shepherd hooks, by 17.6mm wide at the lower piece, these earrings looks spectacular on the ear and thanks to the combination of the warm rose gold with the solid black and of course the floral design in the centre, these earrings will easily suit the day and look stunning in the evening.
Still in wonderful condition, these antique pietra dura earrings are as good as they get.
