Here is a very beautiful and practical antique shakudo bracelet that is so comfortable and easy to wear all the time, day or night and always fit in with what ever is being worn. Shakudo is an alloy of gold and copper, having around 4 to 10% gold and 90 to 96% copper, and was originally designed for swords such as the katana (long sword) fittings and other pieces such as the kozuka (the grip of a small knife) Japanese swords, and after the end of the samurai class grew obsolete, the shakudo masters turned their attention to jewellery such as this shakudo bracelet. Dating from the Meiji period of the early 1900â€™s, this bracelet is made up of sixteen panels, each measuring approximately 16.4mm by 12mm and from end to end the bracelet measures 19cm in length making it very easy to wear all the time. The shakudo panels are just wonderful and really tell a story and show so much of everything that is Japan.
