Antique Waltham pocket watch made in 1913 in excellent condition.
This antique pocket watch was made by Waltham in 1913 and is in superb condition with not only the movement running flawlessly, but the rolled gold case still having a wonderful sharp engine turned case that has had so little wear in its life, and like the hinges, is in excellent condition. Measuring 51mm across plus the bow, the case is made from rolled gold which should not to be confused with gold plating which is much less durable. Rolled gold is a process where the gold itself is layered over a base metal then bonded together using heat and pressure and made into various items such as jewellery and of course pocket watch cases. The major advantage it has over gold plating is that because it is gold on the outside, it can be both engraved and polished, whereas this can not be done with gold plating. It is a true testament to the quality that it is still in wonderful condition even though more than 100 years has passed. The dial is also in superb condition with no cracks and displays elegant and traditional Roman numerals as well as the sub-seconds at the bottom, and all of this is powered by the beautiful fully jewelled movement in the back. The 17 jewelled movement has just come back from a full service, runs perfectly and comes with our twelve month warranty. As beautiful today as when it was made, this is a wonderful antique pocket watch to add to a collection or for a special gift for that special occasion. 18 carat gold Waltham pocket watch made in 1888 in exceptional condition
Here is an very solid 18 carat gold Waltham pocket watch made in 1888 in exceptional condition with an equally exceptional and very high grade movement inside. Measuring 51.8mm across by 75.5mm to the top of the bow, the pocket watch weighs 131 grams, and with such a wonderful heft to it, it feels fantastic to hold in the palm of your hand. Not only this, but the condition of the case is absolutely as good as they come with its engine turned design still in its original sharp condition showing how little this pocket watch has been used and held during its life. It is so rare to find a solid gold pocket that is over 130 years old such as this one is, in this condition. And the exceptional condition doesn't stop there, as both the white enamel dial is free of any cracks and the superb movement inside has undergone a full overhaul and is running perfectly. Going back to the dial, it displays traditional Roman numerals with the sub-seconds at the 6 o'clock position and is still so easy to read. Opening the back of the case reveals tow further important features with this pocket watch. The first being that is still retains its original paper warranty from Waltham which is also in amazing condition for its age, and the dust cover has been beautifully hand engraved with  "Presented by the magistrates & townspeople of Singleton to Senr (Senior) Constable Thos (Thomas) Mickey on his removal to Newcastle April 1889" It is lovely to find such a wonderful sentiment inside as it makes the pocket watch so much more personal than any other. And finally there is the movement itself. The movement is of such a high grade quality that is up there with the best that either America or Switzerland ever produced. Of particular note in the movement is the regulator. Designed by Charles W Fogg, it is called the Fogg Tadpole regulator or Short Tadpole regulator and are held in such high esteem thanks to their superb accuracy. The regulator is used to adjust the balance wheel’s rate of oscillation in order to improve accuracy of the watch. Several varieties of watch regulators are found in Waltham movements, most of which were patented and often called “Patent Regulators.” The best regulators offer extreme precision while adjusting the rate of oscillation. A patent regulator was often an indicator of quality which this one most certainly is. And as a final note, there were only 500 of this particular movement ever made, making it a truly rare and beautiful find. From inside to out, this antique pocket watch is truly exception in all respects and looks as incredible today as when it was made all those years ago. Stock# W1586 Circa: 1888 $Sold
14ct gold Waltham pocket watch made in 1918 in exceptional condition
Here is a 14ct gold Waltham pocket watch made in 1918 in exceptional condition with an equally beautiful movement inside. Too often the term "mint condition" is used when describing a piece of jewellery or pocket watch for example, however it can aptly be used for this pocket watch. The engine turned design on both the front and back are still so crisp and sharp and show how little this pocket watch was actually used and handled. Often this engine turned design gets worn down as does the hinges on the case, whereas the front cover opens easily when the bow is pressed down, and stops at 90 degrees to the dial. Measuring 50mm across by 70mm from the bottom to the top of the bow, the heft and feel of this pocket watch in the palm of your hand will feel just right. Made in 14ct solid gold as opposed to rolled gold adds to the charm and character of an already very handsome antique pocket watch. With the dial itself in equally excellent condition, it is as pure white in colour today as when it was made 199 years ago. With the numerals and sub-seconds at the bottom, this is a very easy to read dial. Inside is the beautiful 15 jewelled manual wind Waltham movement that has been completely serviced and comes with our twelve month warranty. If you have been after a perfect pocket watch for yourself or for a gift, then this antique Waltham pocket watch might just be the one that ticks all the boxes.
