Antique natural pearl necklace made in the Victorian era
This antique necklace was made in the 1870's and is just spectacular from near or far. Typical of the work by early Australian jewellers, it was made in 15 carat gold that has achieved such a wonderful patina combined with beautiful work and detail to the gold itself. And then the necklace is highlighted with natural pearls. Whereas today pearls are produced by being cultured, these pearls are completely natural and this is made even more amazing by the fact that it is estimated that a natural pearl is produced in between 1 in 5,000 to 1 in 10,000 oysters. With a beautiful design of the chain draping elegantly along the necklace, this piece sits so beautifully on the neckline and will no doubt always be admired. Measuring 41cm when laid out from end to end, this is one of the most beautiful and elegant necklaces that you could ever hope to wear. Stock# ES9077 Circa: 1870 $6,950

Designed with the natural pearls representing grapes, the border along the brooch has been made to simulate wood as well, highlighting how much talent and skill Alfred Lorking had.
