Made in a rolled gold case that measures 50mm in diameter, the back of the case has a sterling silver plate on it, and the engine turned design is still so nice and sharp to the touch, meaning that this pocket watch was not used a great deal. The dial is all original and in pristine condition and displays numbers that have a wonderful font to them as well as the sub-seconds at the bottom. Here we are proud to offer this extremely rare antique 18 carat yellow gold Omega chrono-tachymetre pocket watch that was made in 1916 and is in exceptional condition and unlikely ever to be found is such condition any time soon. To begin with the solid 18 carat yellow gold case measures 53.4mm across by 73.6mm to the top of the bow and has an elegant engine turned case back which still has such has such a nice crisp feel to it. With an incredibly solid and tactile feel to it, the pocket watch weighs 93 grams and feels amazing to hold in the palm of your hand. Then there is the dial which is just so incredibly impressive to admire from near or far and is still in immaculate condition even after 100 years has passed. Displaying not only the time, this pocket watch his called a chrono-tachymetre. With a tachymeter able to measure speed, and a chronometer able to measure time, combine them both and the result is the spectacular dial you see before you. Of interesting note, the dial is not only signed "Omega", but also signed â€śCadran BrevetĂ© S.G.D.G.â€ť which is the abbreviation of â€śSans garantie du gouvernementâ€ť which translates to â€śWithout government guaranteeâ€ť. This was the term used under French law since 1844 and designates that it was assigned for the French market and colonies only. And then inside is the most impressive and incredible manual wind Omega 18" P CHRO movement which was first made by Omega in 1906. Measuring just 7.15mm thick, this incredible movement is all original, has been completely serviced and comes with our twelve month warranty. It is incredible to think what was achieved by Omega at a time where computers were unheard of and all the components inside were meticulously thought out and planned to create this wonderful masterpiece.
