18ct gold ring from the Georgian era of the early 1800’s
The Georgian era was from 1714 to 1837 and actually encompassed three King George’s and King William from 1830 to 1837.
Jewellery made in the Georgian period were often foiled back. This technique took a stone either natural or man-made, and put a sliver of foil behind the closed setting. This would allow for the foil to reflect through the stone to help enhance the sparkle of the stone.
