What a wonderful antique pocket watch!
Made in solid 18ct yellow gold, this gents size full hunter pocket watch was made by the Waltham watch company in 1896.
The case is especially lovely in that it is perfectly plain, with no engraving or engine turning at all. The dial is in the tradition style of having Roman numerals and sub-seconds.
The inside dust cover has wonderful hand engraving saying: “Cecil Hope Cohen from his dear father on attaining 13 years of age. July 5th 1901”
* Cecil Hope Cohen was born on the 5th July, 1888 and served in World War I where he was injured, and later died at the British Army Hospital, London November 18th 1918. *
The movement, which has been overhauled and fully serviced is a 13 jewelled movement with a Breguet over-coil hairspring, and keeps perfect time.
A truly wonderful pocket watch in 18ct gold.
