The Omega Constellation is one of the world's most iconic watches, and here we have a lovely vintage Omega Constellation dating from 1966.
Made in a stainless steel case that measures 34mm across plus the Omega crown, this particular case is also known as the "broken leg" case, as the lugs at each end go around the case, then go straight for the band to be fitted. It is small details such in case design that makes vintage watches so unique, as well as making them wonderful conversation points.
Inside is the 24 jewelled automatic Omega calibre 561 chronometer rated movement that has been serviced by our Omega certified watchmaker and comes with our twenty four month warranty. Not only are we an authorised Omega watch service centre, our in-house watchmakers can service your Omega watch as well as other brands, so please feel free to bring in your watch or pocket watch for a free quote.
And not only has the case been expertly and correctly polished on not just a polishing wheel, but also our lapping wheel which is the only way to correctly polish a watch case to retain sharp edges, but the case back also has the Omega Constellation still with such a sharp, crisp finish showing how little this watch has been worn, as many of the logos on the back do get worn out.
This is such a classic vintage Omega, that will always look so stylish on the wrist.

The progenitor of the Constellation line is without doubt the appropriately named "Century". A limited edition self-winding chronometer wristwatch launched in 1948 to celebrate the firm's 100th anniversary. This watch, not intended for series production, was greeted with such enthusiasm that the decision was taken to create a watch with all the same qualities on an industrial scale. It started with the movements, which were all self-winding chronometers that had received the mention of "Especially good results" during testing.
The line would soon develop into a series of watches which were finished to different degrees. The Constellation available in steel or gold, the Constellation Deluxe was only available in gold with applied gold indexes on the dial and finally the Constellation Grand Luxe, which was available in gold and platinum with corresponding dial and the so-called "Brick link" bracelet. The Grand Luxe model was delivered in a solid silver presentation box.
When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but two watchmakers. Our head watchmaker, Lorenzo Del Rosso, used to used to work for Tag Heuer, LVMH and then Rolex, before coming to Kalmar Antiques. We also now an authorised Omega watch service centre. This allows us to be able to service your Omega watch to full Omega specifications.
Along with Omega watches, we can service other watches such as Longines, Breitling, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.
How often should I service my Omega?
As per official OMEGA guidelines, the service frequency depends on the use of the watch and the environment in which it is worn. The water resistance can, for example, be affected by the aging of the gaskets or by an accidental shock. Therefore, we recommend that you have the water resistance checked once a year and a complete service performed every 5 to 8 years.
Kalmar Antiques are now an authorised OMEGA watch service centre. We are based in the heart of Sydney in the Queen Victoria Building.
Taking your watch to an authorised OMEGA watch service centre such as Kalmar Antiques, will ensure that not only is your watch serviced to the highest standards, but only genuine Omega parts are used. This will also allow the watch to be covered by a two year warranty.
