Antique 18ct rose gold antique engagement ring

George Addis was an early Australian jeweller, and here is a lovely and very unique antique 18ct rose gold antique engagement ring by George Addis.

Dating from the 1890's, this lovely antique diamond engagement ring has such a unique feature not often found in diamond engagement rings. More often than not, engagement rings are set in either yellow or white gold or platinum or a combination of this. When set in gold, they are traditionally set in 18ct gold. The higher the carat of gold, the more yellow it often is. This is the reason why there is more 9, 10 or 15 carat rose gold and less in 18ct gold. However this ring has the most beautiful colour of rose gold which looks even more stunning on the finger.

Set with European cut diamonds, the five diamonds total 0.51 carats and sparkle magnificently. And then there is the detail of the scroll work in the setting which highlights not just the diamonds but emphasises the quality of work that went into making this ring well over 100 years ago.

Measuring 3.9mm wide at the centre by 13.9mm across, this engagement ring will also easily accommodate a wedding ring sitting along side.

There is so much charm and character with antique diamond engagement rings, and this one is certainly no exception.

Description
Antique 18ct rose gold antique engagement ring by George Addis.

This antique 18ct rose gold antique engagement ring is so special for two reasons. Firstly it was made in rose gold. Most engagement rings are set in yellow or white gold or platinum. Rose gold is made by the addition of copper when it is being alloyed resulting in a lovely warm colour. This engagement ring is made in 18ct rose gold which has a softer rose tone than 9ct rose gold. The reason being, the higher in carat, the more yellow the gold is resulting in the lovely rose colour seen in this ring. And secondly this ring was made by the Australian jewellery George Addis. George Addis was born in Melbourne in 1864 and moved to Tasmania where he worked as a jeweller from 1890 trading as a jeweller and watchmaker. Moving later to Kalgoorlie, he traded as a jeweller until 1934. Making a name now as a maker of fine quality Australian pieces, George Addis jewellery has become highly sought after.
