Antique amethyst and pearl pendant that converts to a brooch

This is a fabulous antique amethyst and pearl pendant that can be wonderfully converted into and worn as a brooch.

Made in 15ct gold, this pendant is set with two incredibly vibrant amethysts that stand out so well. With the oval one fixed in the centre, the lower tear drop shaped one moves delightfully when this is worn as either a brooch or a pendant.

Further highlighting this piece are 39 pearls, however it wasn't just a matter of the jeweller who created this piece to set them, rather it was a matter of finding so many of the same colour and ones that graduate in size so well. When you look at the pearls on the outside, they graduate from small to large then back to smaller so perfectly.

Turning the brooch over reveals the pin to wear as a brooch, however to prevent this sticking forward when worn as a pendant, this pin can be discreetly removed to allow it to sit flat against the chest.

It is a very simple yet very ingenious design that is a testament to the quality of jewellery produced well over 100 years ago.

From left to right the pendant measures 36.2mm across by 41.5mm to the top of the flower design at the top or 45mm to the very top of the bail which the chain goes through.

Worn as a pendant or a brooch, this is such an elegant and sophisticated piece of jewellery that will get the attention it rightly deserves.
