Here is an exquisite antique amethyst pendant locket surrounded by pearls made in 1849 that is so special and unique.
Mourning jewellery can often be quite staid and sombre, however this one is the complete opposite and has another very unique feature. On the back is not one but two names engraved. The first is "Alice Bright Ob 24 April 1849" and the other "Henry Perry Bright ob 5 May 1849". It is this personal sentiment that makes antique jewellery such as this so much more special and unique.
In the centre is a vibrant and large amethyst that measures 14.50 carats and is surrounded by twenty eight pearls that really highlight the amethyst so well. And then there are the three additional pearls on the bail to complete the look. The colour from the 18ct gold, combined with the amethyst and pearls makes this such a lovely piece to wear all the time.
When this pendant is turned over, it reveals another incredible feature. The rock crystal "window" opens to reveal a locket compartment. This small yet charming addition to this pendant adds another dimension of character and charm to an already very beautiful piece.
Measuring 23mm across by 29.1mm to the bottom to the top of the pearl set bail, this is one antique locket/pendant that is like no other and shows why there is something so special about antique jewellery.
