Antique Australian locket by Aronson

Aronson and Co were one of Australia’s most prolific and famous jewellers on the late 19th Century until 1947, and here is a truly beautiful antique photo locket that is still in wonderful condition even after being made over 100 years ago.

Made in 15 carat gold which itself is a much rarer and hard to find carat of gold as opposed to 9 or 18 carat gold, this locket is solid gold as opposed to “back and front” lockets made at the same time which are a two pieces of gold with a metal section between. Combined with the colour of this gold having such a rich colour to it, as well as being in superb condition, then you have a locket that is truly so beautiful and elegant.

The locket measures 24mm across by 36mm plus the link for a chain to pass through and is beautifully hand engraved on the front in a design that compliments the rectangle shape.

Able to hold two photos inside, this is a wonderful example of early Australian jewellery, by one of Australia’s most foremost early jewellers.
