Antique bangle made in 1882

$1,150.00

This bangle was made in 1882, this bangle shows just how unique and beautiful antique jewellery can be as well as being perfect to wear day or night.

Made in sterling silver, not only is the design so attractive, but the floral design is highlighted with both rose and the much rarer green gold. Gold is alloyed with other metals produces different colours, such as adding primarily copper to the gold when being alloyed will result in a lovely rose colour. And green gold is made by either adding silver to the gold or years ago even cadmium. This gives the gold a lovely soft green colour which can be seen here in this bangle when it was used to highlight the leaves. This adds so much charm and character to the bangle and will make it be admired even more.

Measuring 18.7mm wide, being hinged will allow it to sit nice and close to the wrist, and fitted with a safety chain for added security, this bangle will be not only so comfortable to wear all the time, but will be perfect to wear day or night.

Antique bangle made in 1882

Antique bangle made in 1882 in sterling silver and highlighted with rose and green gold.

What is green gold?

Gold is alloyed with other metals that results in producing different colours. Rose gold is made by primarily adding copper to the gold when being alloyed. This results in a lovely warm tone to it. Today green gold is made by adding silver to the gold, however the green colour is more a soft green-yellow colour. Years ago cadmium was added resulting in a stronger colour. While never a strong green such as yellow or white gold, the tone of green in antique pieces is more pronounced especially when set against sterling silver.
