Antique bangle made in silver and highlighted with rose and green gold

Made in the late 1800's, this antique sterling silver  bangle has such a charming feature on the front which is highlighted in not just rose gold, but also the rarer green gold.

Measuring 25.6mm wide, this bangle is so comfortable to wear all the time during the day and can easily suit any formal event during the evening. This bangle will also so easily suit any woman of any age, making this such a versatile bangle to have that will be perfect for any occasion.

The floral design on the front itself is so charming, however to make it even more special, it is highlighted with rose and green gold.

The colour of gold can be altered by alloying it with different metals such as copper, and during the late Victorian time, cadmium was often used to produce green gold. The colour of green gold has a very soft green tone to it that was used in this bangle to highlight the leaves, and rose gold for the flowers themselves.

And then there is a border in rose gold and exquisite hand engraving at each end. The time needed to make this bangle with the hand engraving would have been immense and is a real testament to the quality of jewellers and what they could achieve over 130 years ago.

As beautiful today as when it was made, this antique bangle will always be loved and admired.

Description

Antique bangle made in silver and highlighted with rose and green gold

This antique bangle was made in the late Victorian in sterling silver and highlighted with both rose and green gold.

Gold is alloyed with other metals that results in producing different colours. Rose gold is made by primarily adding copper to the gold when being alloyed resulting in the lovely warm tone to it, and today green gold is made by adding silver to the gold, however the green colour is more a soft green-yellow colour. Years ago cadmium was added resulting in a stronger colour. While never a strong green such as yellow or white gold, the tone of green in antique pieces is more pronounced especially when set against sterling silver.
