Antique brooch with a citrine love heart and two swallows

Throughout history the swallow has been used in jewellery to represent all aspects associated with love, and along with the citrine heart there is no doubt that this brooch is all about love and romance and will be adored every-time that it is worn.

Made in 18 carat yellow gold in the early 1900's, the brooch is designed with a swallow at each end flying towards that gorgeous citrine in the centre which is surrounded by pearls.

The citrine measures 5.30 carats and has such a lovely golden colour that is complimented by the rich yellow from the gold. Highlighted with six pearls, the swallows at each end, combined with the heart really make this such a beautiful and romantic brooch.

Measuring 41.7mm across by 21.5mm, this brooch is not only so beautiful, but with such a romantic association attached to it, this brooch will always look perfect on any outfit.

Description

Antique brooch with a citrine love heart and two swallows

This antique brooch was made in 18 carat yellow gold and set with a citrine surrounded by pearls with a swallow on each side.

Historically, swallows are often seen in jewellery and represent love and loyalty as swallows mate for life and always go back to their nest. Because of this, they also represented a safe return as it was thought that swallows lead ships home when they were returning to port.
