With the profile of Zeus next to his wife Hera who were both considered in Greek mythology to be the King and Queen of the Gods.
Also in this carving is one of their sons Hermes holding the Caduceus, also known as the "Rod of Hermes" or the "Wand of Hermes" which is often seen as a symbol to medicine.
And next to Hermes is the eagle which was used to represent Zeus making this such a magnificent cameo steeped in history.
The detail of this cameo is extraordinary as can be seen in such places as the brow and hair of Zeus as well as his beard.
The mount for the cameo is made in 15ct gold and in itself is very beautiful and attractive with the scroll work that has been finely hand engraved.
The gold mount measures 5.9cm wide by 7.1cm in height and looks impressive on any jacket. The cameo itself measures 4.5cm by 6cm.
