Willis were one of Australia's most famous and prolific jewellers of the 19th and mid-20th Centuries, and here is a wonderful example of one of their pieces that is not only so attractive, but also still in fantastic condition even after being made over 100 years ago.
Made in 15 carat gold, the way the bangle was designed with a split section that is each set with six seed pearls as well as beautiful hand engraving at each end that connect at the centre with another pearl, there is also the charming scroll design as well as the three rose cut diamonds set at each end. These diamonds add a charming sparkle to the bangle without taking away from the pearls as well as the design of the bangle which is destined to always be complimented on each time that it is worn.
Being a hinged design bangle will allow it to slip easily over the wrist, and fit nice and close to the wrist. Fitted with a safety chain for added security, this is a wonderful example of early Australian jewellery, but one of Australia's most famous jewellers.

Antique diamond and pearl bangle by Willis
Antique diamond and pearl bangle by Willis made in 15 carat gold and set with rose cut diamonds.
Willis and Sons were first established in 1858 by Richard and Thomas Willis, who were jewellery importers and wholesalers. They imported clocks, silver and electro-plated pieces as well making a name for themselves as a leading manufacturer of jewellery. The jewellery they produced often reflected the native Australian flora and fauna with brooches often being in the form of a boomerang often with an Australian animal for example. By the turn of the century the firm had become Australia's leading gold jewellery manufacturer and after 1931 continued just as importers after closing the manufacturing side of the business down. Their jewellery is hallmarked with the gold carat and mark as well as their own registered mark of a unicorn.
