Entirely hand made in 14ct rose gold and sterling silver, the attention to detail in this lorgnette is simply astonishing.
Ignoring the diamonds and pearls that are set into this antique lorgnette for a moment, both the top where the glasses fold over and fit into and the handle are so amazingly designed with countless hours of labour including divine hand engraving.
From end to end the lorgnette measures 14.6cm by 3.4cm at its widest part or 13cm when it is opened and fits perfectly in the palm of your hand.
Then there are the diamonds. This antique lorgnette is set with a total of 22 diamonds
with 18 of the diamonds being European cuts and 4 lovely rose cut diamonds, and the total weight of all of these diamonds an impressive 2.12 carats.
Imagining the family that this would have come from to commission a jeweller to make this lorgnette and to be able to set over 2 carats of diamonds, is just an amazing thought.
Bezel set into the lorgnette are three mabe pearls which add a wonderful natural lustre to an already stunning piece.
Not only are there the diamonds, but on one side in coloured enamel are the initials "PAH".
