Antique double snake ring set with European cut diamonds

The snake motif is often seen in jewellery that goes as far back as Roman times and represented eternal love. Queen Victoria’s own engagement ring was a snake ring set with rubies, emeralds and diamonds, and as she was so influential in fashion and design in the 19th century, she would have no doubt influenced other people to wear snake rings, even after her death, and here is a very smooth and tactile antique double snake ring set European cut diamonds.

Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold in 1918, the entwined snakes look and feel so smooth making this ring so incredibly comfortable to wear all the time. Measuring  12.7mm wide at the top, it tapers down to 5.3mm wide at the back and is set with two European cut diamonds that total 0.08 carats and add an elegant sparkle to the ring without going overboard.

With a design that is steeped in history, this antique double snake ring will always be such a wonderful conversation starter.
