Antique Georgian enamel brooch set with diamonds and pearls

$5,300.00

Here is a spectacular antique Georgian era enamel brooch set with diamonds and pearls that dates from the early 1800’s and looks as amazing today as when it was made over 200 years ago.

It is astonishing to think that we can not only admire, but also wear a piece of jewellery of this age as well as it still being in wonderful condition, is all a testament to the jewellers of this era.

Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and silver, the reason that silver was used to set the diamonds into was that up until the early 1900’s white gold was not yet invented and platinum, although already discovered, was not used in jewellery until around the same time as white gold.

Measuring 59.1mm across by 28.2mm, the brooch is set with nine rose cut diamonds at each end with a border of seventeen natural pearls on each side that graduate so elegantly as the go along the edge, leading to the largest ones in the centre. This small feature of having the pearls graduate in size show just how much thought and time that went into creating this gorgeous brooch.

And then set onto that wonderful vibrant blue enamel background are three floral designed sections each set with more rose cut diamonds. With the two side sections having a total of thirteen diamonds, the centre flower section has twenty seven diamonds. All these diamonds come together to total 0.41 carats and highlight not only the brooch, but the individual design and sections that they are set into.

Viewing this brooch from the side also shows a most elegant border that itself is so attractive and finishes the brooch of perfectly as looking at this brooch from every angle is just magnificent.

To wear a diamond and pearl brooch is special, however to wear one that is over 200 years old is just amazing.
