Here is an exquisite antique micromosaic brooch that dates from the 1870's and is as beautiful from afar as it is up close and will no doubt be admired every time that it is worn.
Micromosaic jewellery is made using incredibly small pieces of ceramics, glass or pebbles known as tesserae and painstakingly laid in a pattern as can be seen here of a scarab beetle. The detail in not only the beetle, but the surround is truly amazing and a true testament to the quality of the artisans of a bygone era. The colours are just so vibrant and day or night, this is one brooch that will always get the attention that it rightly deserves.
Measuring 33.3mm in diameter, the Etruscan mount itself is just as beautiful and was made in 18 carat gold.
This is a work of art just as much as a piece of jewellery, and one that is sure to become a family treasure.
