Antique Mizpah brooch made in 1897
$785.00
The term Mizpah comes from the Book of Genesis and means “May God look after me and thee while we are absent from one another” and was often given during the Victorian era to loved ones who were going away to wish them a safe return, and here is a very charming antique Mizpah brooch that was made in 1897.
Made in sterling silver, it is highlighted with rose gold for not just the word Mizpah, but also the floral design that adds so much charm to the brooch.
Designed with a swallow on the top, swallows were a very popular design in Victorian jewellery, as the swallows mate for life, they were often used by fishermen and sailors, among others, when they went off on a journey to protect them, and was used to keep them safe and offer them a safe return home
Both of these features are steeped in history and will make this such a wonderful talking point for all who see it.
Measuring 35.2mm across by 34.4mm, this is such a lovely brooch that has so much meaning to it.
