Antique multi-gemstone bangle
Here is a truly exceptional most amazing antique bangle that not only looks incredible on the wrist, but is set with natural gemstones that have not undergone any heat treatment as is common today.
Over 100 years ago, people discovered that if you heat certain gemstones such as sapphires and rubies, it will improve its colour and clarity, and people have been heat treating sapphires and rubies for this exact reason. This treatment is worldwide accepted as a normal treatment and not deceiving in any way and is accepted as a standard treatment for gemstones today. These are still natural gemstones from the ground, and are not a synthetic/man made stone, however there is nothing like a gemstone that comes out of the ground with such perfect colour that it doesn’t need any treatment – and that’s exactly what are set into this bangle.
Made in 18 carat yellow gold in the late 1800’s, this incredible bangle is set with a combination of garnets, sapphires, zircons and spinel with the result that this bangle is destined to be admired from near or far.
From one end across to the other, it is set with a garnet, yellow sapphire, green zircon, orange zircon, colourless topaz, burgundy zircon, colourless sapphire, purple spinel, lime zircon, garnet and finally a blue sapphire.
With the gemstones ranging from 1.20 carats with the blue sapphire at the end, to 6.95 carats with the burgundy zircon, all these gemstones come together to total an incredible 33.80 carats in weight. And the colours of them all are just incredible, as is the fact that they are all natural gemstones without any form of treatment.
Being hinged will allow this bangle to sit nice and close to the wrist, and even the claw setting is so charming. Measuring 11.4mm wide at the centre, to complete this bangle even more, it comes with its original fitted box by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company of London.
Still in incredible condition even after more than 130 years have passed since it was made, this is a not only such an exciting bangle, but one that is sure to become a much loved and treasured family heirloom.
