Antique opal, diamond and garnet pendant that converts to a brooch

Here is a stunning antique opal, diamond and garnet pendant that converts to a brooch, and no matter how it is worn, there is little doubt that it will always be admired.

Dating from the late Victorian era of the 1890’s, it was beautifully hand made in 18ct yellow gold and silver. Silver was used to set the diamonds into as it was known that the yellow from the gold could artificially tint the diamonds yellow and white gold was not yet made around 1910 and platinum was not used in jewellery until about the same time.

So ingeniously made to be able to be worn as a brooch or a pendant, when it is worn as a pendant, the brooch fitting on the back is able to be unscrewed and removed to allow it to sit nice and flat against the chest. Measuring 61mm by 45.5mm, this certainly has the dimensions to always get the attention that it rightly deserves.

Set with a total of thirty six antique European cut diamonds and four antique rose cut diamonds, the diamonds come together to total 1.47 carats and certainly make this incredible piece sparkle.

There are also seven green tsavorite garnets that total 0.60 carats. Whereas garnets are more commonly found in a deep burgundy-red colour, these tsavorite garnets have the most wonderful intense green colour that not only highlights the quality of craftsmanship that went into making this piece over a century ago, but also highlights both the diamonds and opals perfectly.

And then there are the two fabulous solid white opals that are the real stars of this piece and look exceptional from near or far. With the lower one measuring

3.26 carats and the top one measuring 5.70 carats, they are so vibrant and are sure to be admired for their wonderful quality.

From up close or seeing this from across the room, there is little doubt that this antique pendant cum brooch will always get the attention and admiration that it so rightly deserves.
