Here is a truly magnificent antique brooch in the most fabulous design with the added charm of having a photo locket on the reverse side.
In exceptional condition that belies its age, this brooch dates from the 1880’s and was made in 15ct yellow gold in an Etruscan style that saw a revival in popularity during the Victorian times.
Set on the front with eight solid opals surrounding a ruby, the design on this front section alone is just spectacular and is only highlighted more by the two chains on each side and then at the bottom the exquisite hand engraved tassel.
This tassel flows and moves so gracefully and and is also in superb condition.
The top round section measures 4cm in diameter and from the bottom of the tassel to the top of the circular section, this distance measures 8.5cm.
Turning the brooch over reveals a compartment to hold a photo of a loved one to make this antique brooch even more personal and special.
Incredible to think that this brooch is over 100 years old and still in wonderful condition and so easily able to be worn every day.
