Antique peridot and pearl pendant that can be worn as a brooch
Here is a lovely antique peridot and seed pearl pendant that can so easily be converted and worn as a brooch, and regardless of how it is worn, there is little doubt that it will always be loved and admired.
Made in 15 carat gold in the early 1900’s, this piece is reminiscent of the earlier Victorian era with its lovely flowing design, with elements of the upcoming Art Deco period of the 1920’s starting to show by having not a round peridot in the centre, but rather an octagonal cut peridot. Measuring 2.30 carats in weight, the peridot is a perfect match for both the pearls and the 15 carat gold, and captures the light so beautifully.
Set with 36 seed pearls in the main body, the top bail is set with a further two seed pearls and this can so easily be removed to allow it to sit flat against any outfit when it is worn as a brooch. Removing the bail is simply a matter of sliding the piece down and off the hook it is attached to, making this such a simple yet ingenuous system that it often seen on antique brooch/pendants and one that is so logical to allow it become two separate pieces of jewellery.
Measuring 25.2mm across by 36mm or 47.2mm to the top of the bail, this is a wonderful piece of antique jewellery that is as beautiful as it is versatile.
