Antique photo locket in silver rose and green gold

There is something so special about antique photo lockets and this one is certainly no exception.

Made in the late Victorian era of the 1890’s in sterling silver, this gorgeous antique locket has a wonderful floral design that is highlighted in both rose gold and the much rarer green gold.

For centuries gold has been made in different colours by being alloyed with other metals. Rose gold is produced by primarily adding copper to the gold for example, and years ago green gold was made by adding silver to the gold or cadmium. This results in a lovely soft green colour, that looks so beautiful and shows how special and unique antique jewellery can be.

Measuring 38mm across by 46.3mm, or 65.7mm to the top of the bail, inside it can hold two photos that once placed inside will make this so much more personal to the wearer.
