Regard jewellery is a form of acrostic jewellery where the first letter of each gemstone "spells" out the word such as can be seen here with a Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby and a Diamond where the first letter spells the word "Regard".
Antique regard rings are becoming increasingly hard to come by and this one is fabulous for so many reasons.
To begin with all the gemstones are natural and not paste as is sometimes found, then the design itself is just marvelous. From one side across to the other, this distance measures 18.2mm by 7.2mm wide at the centre.
Then the detail in this ring is just superb and made all the more special by having exquisite hand engraving around the band. The time needed to make this ring would have been incredible and just shows the quality of craftsmanship that could be achieved over 100 years ago.
Antique acrostic jewellery is so special and unique and this antique regard ring is just fabulous.
