This antique ruby and diamond bangle made by Drummond & Co in the late 1800’s not only sits perfectly on the wrist, but is also in incredible condition well over 100 years later.
Drummond & Co were one of the finest early Australian jewellery companies working in both Sydney and Melbourne and produced very high quality jewellery such as this bangle.
Both the rubies and diamonds are set into the bangle in with a star pattern forming the beads to hold the gemstones in a style often called gypsy setting. This simple yet very elegant style of setting gemstones adds a wonderful extra dimension and character to the bangle and shows shy antique pieces are such a beautiful way of looking into the way jewellery was made in a bygone era.
Set with four natural rubies that total 0.38 carats, the smaller of the two diamonds at each end are rose cut diamonds and the centre diamond a European cut diamond. These diamonds total 0.05 carats and add the right amount of sparkle without taking away from the beautiful design on the bangle.
Made in 9ct yellow gold, the bangle measures 15.5mm wide at the top and tapers down to 12.1mm wide at the back and being a hinged bangle, this allows it to sit so nice and close to the wrist.
In superb condition even well after 120 years has passed, this antique ruby and diamond bangle is just so beautiful and perfect in every way.
