Antique sapphire and pearl ring made in the 1890’s
This lovely late Victorian ring dates from the late 1800’s and was made in 18 carat yellow gold. The natural sapphire in the centre is gypsy set, and this term is given when there is a star pattern surrounding the stone or stones in the ring, which was created by the jeweller pushing into the gold resulting in not only a star pattern but also a bead to add to the security of the stone. This attractive feature was especially popular in jewellery from from the late Victorian era and adds so much more charm and character to an antique ring.
