Duggin, Shappere & Co were an early Australian jewellery company that made a name for themselves as producers of fine quality jewellery such as can be seen here in this magnificent antique solid opal, pearl and ruby bangle made by Duggin Shappere & Co in the early 1900's.
Made in 15 carat rose gold, the colour of the gold alone is just wonderful with that charming warm tone to it that looks even more beautiful on the skin. The design is typical of Art Nouveau jewellery of this era with a wonderful flowing design to it that flows across the wrist.
Set with thirty five seed pearls, looking closely you will see that the pearls graduate in size so elegantly and highlight the quality of craftsmanship that went into making this bangle all those years ago.
Sitting in the centre of a flower design is a natural ruby that is surrounded by three solid black opals from Lightning Ridge. Lightning Ridge is the home to the best opals in the world, and with a further opal on the side, the amazing spectral colours coming from these opals is just amazing.
Measuring 18.6mm wide at the centre, this is not only a wonderful antique bangle, but also a wonderful showcase of early Australian jewellery.
