Antique jewellery is so often so unique and individual, and here are a lovely pair of antique sterling silver earrings highlighted with rose and green gold that are like no other.
Dating from the late 1800's, these earrings have the most beautiful floral motif design which has a leaf pattern accentuated by green gold. Rarely seen, green gold was used in the late 1800's and the tone of green has a wonderful soft hue that was used brilliantly to highlight leaf designs such as can be seen here with these earrings. With a further elegant highlight of two rose gold bars on each side, these really are a pair of antique earrings that have so much detail and character.
Measuring 17.8mm in diameter, the earrings are set with lovely long shepherd hooks that are very secure and wont fall out.
Perfect for any time of the day or night, these antique earrings from the Victorian era are as versatile as they are elegant.

Green gold was is sometimes seen in jewellery of the late 1800's. Made today by the absence of adding silver to the alloy, years ago cadmium was often added. While perfectly safe to touch today, while molten, cadmium gives off toxic fumes hence its relatively short use in jewellery making. These antique earrings from the late Victorian era, display not only rose gold, but green gold as well.
