Antique Victorian diamond bangle

Exquisitely hand made in the Victorian period of the 1880's, comes this diamond bangle that is truly exceptional and will make all who see it stop and admire it for its elegant design as well as the incredible sparkle emanating from the diamonds.

Made in 15 carat gold and sterling silver, the bangle is set with a lovely cluster in the centre set with a European cut diamond surrounded by ten mine cut diamonds. With a further cluster at each end set with more mine cut diamonds, these are "connected" to the centre cluster by the lovely open design that flares out and is set with even more mine cut diamonds.

In total there are 49 diamonds that come together to total a dazzling 4.61 carats which are destined to sparkle so beautifully day or night.

Being hinged will allow the bangle to sit nice and secure against the wrist, and fitted with a safety chain for added security, this is certainly one bangle that will always be loved and treasured.

Antique Victorian diamond bangle

Antique Victorian diamond bangle made in the 1880's. This antique bangle is set with a combination of mine cut diamonds and European cut diamonds.

What is a mine cut diamond? What is a cushion cut diamond?

At the start of the 18th century, a great leap forward emerged with the “invention” of the new 58-facetted diamond. At the time, these were the closest resemblance to today’s brilliant cut diamond. These are referred to as old mine cut diamonds, or “old miners” as well as “cushion cut diamonds” . These were cut often squarish or cushion shaped, with quite a steep angle on the crown and pavilion. This was to maximise weight retention in the diamond. As well as these features, the “old miners” often had quite a large culet or collet, the horizontal base formed by the blunting of a point when the stone is cut as a brilliant.
