Here is an incredibly beautiful and unique Art Deco ruby and diamond “swirl” ring dating from the 1920’s that looks as fabulous today aw when it was made. Beautifully hand made in 18ct gold and platinum, the design of this ring is so wonderful and has such a fluid design to it that captivates the eye. Sitting proudly in the centre is a gorgeous antique European cut diamond measuring 0.38 carats that has such a wonderful sparkle to it which is further enhanced by the incredible design of this ring. Swirling around the diamond in an interlocking design are a total of twenty one square cut rubies and twenty one rose cut diamonds. The rubies are all matched so well for colour and clarity which would have been such a time consuming exercise to find and cut to perfect size all those years ago, and they total 0.21 carats and the additional diamonds total 0.14 carats and add the right amount of sparkle to an already incredibly beautiful ring. The setting of the rubies and diamonds are all millgrain set which was a popular technique during the 1920’s and can be seen as the elegant crimping along the edge of the setting which adds that extra charm to the ring. Measuring 13.1mm by 12.1mm from left to right, this ring sits so well on the finger and no matter where or when it is being worn, there is no doubt that it will always be admired and commented on for its beautiful unique design.
