Art Deco sapphire and diamond engagement ring from the 1930’s
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, this Art Deco engagement ring is set with a natural sapphire and two European cut diamonds. The European cut diamond was the cut of diamond before today’s modern round brilliant cut diamond and shares the same fifty eight facets however the most notable difference is the different angles on the diamonds. As the European cut diamond was cut by hand and with technology of the time, they often have slightly steeper crown and pavilion facets.
In recent years the European cut diamond and the earlier mine cut diamond, have both started to be re-cut in modern diamond cutting workshops in both Antwerp and India, however nothing beats the original genuine conflict-free antique cut diamonds from a wonderful bygone era.
The Art Deco era between the 1920’s and the 1940’s has also remained the most popular era for engagement rings as the styles and designs have simply never gone out of fashion or style and remain as popular today as when they were first made all those years ago. Vintage engagement rings always have that something special about them and the desirability for a genuine Art Deco engagement ring has never been higher.
