Art Deco sapphire and diamond engagement ring made in the 1930’s
This sapphire and diamond engagement ring was hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum during the Art Deco period. What makes the sapphire in this ring quite unique compared to other sapphire and diamond rings, is that the sapphire is round rather than oval. Traditionally coloured gemstones are cut in an oval shape to retain as much gemstone weight as possible, so finding a round sapphire is quite harder to obtain.
On each side is a genuine antique European cut diamond, which was the forerunner to today’s round brilliant cut diamond.
