There is nothing like admiring the quality of a hand made ring, and it really gets no better when it is hand made in the purest of all the precious metals, platinum during the fabulous Art Deco period when this ring was made.
Here is a stunning sapphire and diamond Art Deco ring that would not only stand out so elegantly being worn on any finger, but would also make a superb Art Deco sapphire and diamond engagement ring.
Platinum is such a fantastic precious metal to work with thanks to its ability to be drawn into a fine wire and keep its strength and here set amongst the most divine work is a wonderful natural untreated Ceylonese sapphire. Sapphires and rubies have been heat treated for centuries and is completely standard and is used to improve the colour and clarity of the stone, however here this sapphire has remained as natural as it came from the earth and was simply just facetted to the stone you see now.
Measuring 1.85 carats, the bezel surrounding the sapphire has been millgrain finished which was a technique popular in the 1920's to 1940's Art Deco era where the setting has that very fine and elegant crimping along the edge which adds to the charm and character of the ring.
Surrounding the sapphire and highlighting the quality of workmanship that went into making this ring all those years ago, a total of twenty diamonds have been set giving the ring a total of 0.32 carats making this ring sparkle just perfectly all the while never taking away from that magnificent sapphire and the detail in the ring itself.
Measuring 11mm wide at the centre, as an engagement ring or for any reason, this ring truly shows the quality of craftsmanship that was seen in genuine Art Deco rings that have been painstakingly hand made over modern mass produced reproductions.
