Austro-Hungarian antique enamel and garnet Blackamoor brooch

$7,200.00

Here is a truly amazing antique Blackamoor brooch that was made in the 1860’s and is a real piece of history.

The Moors were a race of people from the present-day Morocco region, and were immortalised in not only jewellery but fabulous sculptures and other works of art.

Made in 14 carat gold in the Zagreb in the former Austro-Hungarian empire, the brooch is made with twenty enamelled Moor heads that captivate both the eye and mind and is further highlighted by the seven oval facetted garnets running along the centre.

The enamel heads combined with the deep rich colour of the garnets come together to create a wonderful contrast that looks amazing and will look incredible no matter on what background it is being worn.

Measuring 50.8mm across by 19mm, this is an exceptional and very rare piece of antique jewellery at its finest.
