The Wakmann Watch Company was founded in America in 1946 and became known as importers of high grade mechanical watches with an emphasis on chronographs. This included Breitling watches as well as their own branded chronograph such as this one here.

A brief history on Wakmann watches:
The Wakmann Watch Company was founded in New York in 1946. During this time the US had increased duties on watches imported from Switzerland. This was part of a plan to increase sales of American made watches and its watch industry. Because of this, Wakmann partnered up with Breitling, and to get around tax laws, would receive from Switzerland a batch of nearly . These would then undergo final assembly before being sold under the Wakmann name. Wakmann also supplied watches and other timekeeping devices for the US military and continued to make a name as a producer of highly reliable chronograph watches.
