Here we have a beautiful and poignant antique Georgian mourning ring made in 1794 that well after 220 years is still in fantastic condition and sure to be admired for both its beauty and history.
Mourning rings were a beautiful way to remember when a loved one passed away in a time before photos or other methods were around to capture images and this one has the most refined hand painted image of a woman mourning next to a pedestal with an urn under a willow tree. Looking close on the urn, you will see that there is a natural pearl giving the scene such a three dimensional look and character to it.
With a lovely wide bezel, this section of the ring measures 17.1mm wide by 26.2mm and the underside is hand engraved with "Thos Wilkinson ob 6 Dec 1794 At 61" which gives this ring such a more personal and attractive look and feel to it.
This is such a lovely antique mourning ring that even after 200 years still looks and feels so special on the finger.
