Description
Platinum engagement ring set with a 3.21 carat mine cut diamond
This diamond engagement ring was beautifully hand made by our Master Jeweller in a style reminiscent of a bygone era. Set with a genuine antique mine cut diamond, it is then highlighted by sixteen single cut diamonds in keeping with the traditional style and design of yesteryear.
This diamond engagement ring was entirely hand made in platinum. Set with a large genuine antique mine cut diamond that measures 3.21 carats, the mine cut diamond was first developed at the start of the 1700’s.
This cut is the closest resemblance to today’s brilliant cut, and are referred to as old mine cuts, or old miners. These were cut often squarish or cushion shaped, with quite a steep angle on the crown and pavilion, to maximise weight retention. As well as this, the “old miners” often had quite a large culet or “collet”, the horizontal base formed by the blunting of a point when the stone is cut as a brilliant.
