Here is a truly exceptional diamond engagement ring that was hand made by our Master Jeweller entirely in platinum and in a design and style of yesteryear.
Set with a magnificent genuine antique mine cut diamond, in recent years the earlier mine cut and European cut diamonds have become so popular, that even modern diamond cutting houses in Antwerp and India have started to cut diamonds in these shapes, however nothing beats a genuine antique cut diamond that was cut by hand over 150 years ago.
This mine cut diamond, or "cushion cut" diamond as they are also known as, measures an impressive 3.21 carats and sparkle magnificently. It is K in colour and VS2 in clarity, and before you think that the diamond is low in colour, take a look at it on your finger and be amazed at how bright it faces up. Combine this with a beautiful clarity and you have a very impressive genuine antique mine cut diamond to wear with pride. The way the double claws on each corner of the diamond hold it securely, gives the impression of it being raised up high for all to see and to truly show off not only the beauty of the diamond, but the quality and attention to detail that went into making this ring.
And then not only on the shoulders, but the other sides as well, there are a total of sixteen single cut diamonds that come together to total 0.30 carats. We chose to use single cut diamonds as if this was an Art Deco ring, this is the cut of diamond that would have been used. Like the ring being entirely handmade instead of cast or CAD made on a computer, using these earlier cuts of diamonds is not only in keeping in style of the ring, but also highlights the gorgeous mine cut diamond in the centre by all being a true reproduction. All of this showcases the fine craftsmanship of our Master Jeweller, using the same skills that made Art Deco jewellery so desirable.
With the additional diamonds then being millgrain set which can be seen as the elegant crimping along the edge of the setting, the detail alone in this ring is truly superb with everything coming together in perfect harmony.
From every angle and day or night, there is no doubt that this ring will always be loved, admired and cherished.

Platinum engagement ring set with a 3.21 carat mine cut diamond
This diamond engagement ring was beautifully hand made by our Master Jeweller in a style reminiscent of a bygone era. Set with a genuine antique mine cut diamond, it is then highlighted by sixteen single cut diamonds in keeping with the traditional style and design of yesteryear.
This diamond engagement ring was entirely hand made in platinum. Set with a large genuine antique mine cut diamond that measures 3.21 carats, the mine cut diamond was first developed at the start of the 1700's.
This cut is the closest resemblance to today's brilliant cut, and are referred to as old mine cuts, or old miners. These were cut often squarish or cushion shaped, with quite a steep angle on the crown and pavilion, to maximise weight retention. As well as this, the "old miners" often had quite a large culet or collet, the horizontal base formed by the blunting of a point when the stone is cut as a brilliant.
